HOW TO PLAY

Name the Nine · a new card every day

Every day you get a 3×3 binder page of nine cards — one per mystery player. The name is hidden. Read the stat line on the back of each card and name as many of the nine as you can.

Here’s the hook: every player you name is a card you keep — saved to your binder forever. Miss one and it isn’t collected, so your binder is a real record of who you’ve actually figured out.

Solve a card clean and you might pull it as a rare foil parallel — even a one-of-one. The better you guess, the better the card.

There’s a fresh nine for each sport, every day: MLB·NBA·NFL. Play one, two, or all three. A brand-new round drops every night at midnight Eastern — same nine for everyone.

  1. Tap a card to read its stat line and bio.
  2. Type the player’s name — autocomplete helps you spell it.
  3. You get 3 tries per card.
  4. Stuck? Take a hint (up to 3). Hints help, but they cost you points.
  5. Out of ideas? Give up to reveal the answer — but a revealed card isn’t collected.

Name a card right and it flips over to reveal the player, then carries you straight to the next one — no closing or tapping out. Already solved a card? Tap it to flip between the front and its stat line any time.

It’s about coverage — no clock, no speed bonus. Per card:

  • Named with no hints100
  • Named after 1 hint85
  • Named after 2 hints60
  • Named after 3 hints35
  • Missed0

Go 9/9 with no hints for an IMMACULATE — the rarest brag there is.

Playing more than one sport in a day pays off. On top of your lineup scores you earn:

  • Finish a 2nd sport+250
  • Finish all 3 — Triple Play+600

Play any sport on a given day and your day-streak grows. One shared streak across all three sports — show up daily to keep it alive. No guilt, no punishments; just a tally to be proud of.

Miss a day? A streak freeze has your back. You bank one every 7-day milestone (up to two on hand), and it’s spent automatically to bridge a single missed day — so one slip won’t wipe out a long run.

Missed a day? Replay the last 14 days of lineups from the archive whenever you like. It’s great practice — but catch-up days are practice only: they don’t add cards to your binder, don’t score on the leaderboard, and don’t count toward your streak. Today’s nine is the one that counts.

The players you name fill your binder, and you collect toward sets (MVP Club, Hall of Fame, and more) for each sport.

Like real cards, every pull comes in a finish. Most are Base, but a clean solve on a tough player can land a shiny parallel — Holo, Refractor (/50), Gold (/10), a 1/1 Black, or the legendary Superfractor. The better you guess, the better the hit.

Each card also carries a rarity (how few people named that player), a grade (how cleanly you named them), and a serial number (your pull order over total owners, like “3/822”). Full breakdown in the collecting FAQ.

Each month, your daily scores (plus a bonus for every day you play) stack up on a global leaderboard. It resets on the 1st. Climb the ranks and earn a Manager Rating and title on your card.
